GET IN SHAPE.

No doubt, US3 will be Stevens bigest Budget movie in a few years, and I would expect (like in Exit wounds) he will be told to loose some weight to prepare for the movie.

I was a little dissapointed to find out it was set on a plane, after all I found the confinements on US2 on a train spoiled the film and any fights steven had during the film.

But with a big name director on board, there must be something else to the story, not just stuck on a plane with some terrorists

:p I've not heard the news on US3 yet I am sure it will be cool. I am glad to hear of a big budget film again for Steve. I don't know what he can do on just a plane, surely there is more to it than just a film set on a plane! I mean what can he do?. What ever it is I am sure it will do him justice , he knows what we want and he will (hopefully) give it to us! What ever the plot or outcome it can not be worse than "Ticker", now that was a dire film, Im sorry to say it but it was bad. Steve will no doubt be asked by the producers to loose weight, but thats not a bad thing is it? I mean sure steve is a dude even with the extra poundage, but who can deny that he kicks ass so much more gracefully without the extra weight?

If you call "in shape" looking like a fat slug, then taht is up to you.

All his new fight scenes arn't filmed in slo mo, that is him at full speed.

I used to love all his films, everything up to glimmer man, and Exit wounds, other than that, they have all been low rate crap.

We all know what he is capable of, and we all know what he quality of films he has been churning out recently "RUBBISH", so he needs to get "IN SHAPE PROPERLY"

Major studio isn't gonna hire an actor in his Mid 50's (he will be by the time US3 starts) who moves slower than Jabba the hut, and talks like he has just smoked half of Jamaica, sometimes I think my DVD player is on slow play these days.

And yes, I could do with loosing about 14lbs to be exact, to get in perfect shape, but I am not the one trying to entertain people, especially letting people down who think maybe perhaps, just a chance, his next film may be just as good as his old movies.

And you "SLEEPING FOX", Are you LAZY, do you look like a DOG, and your SH!T stinks more than any other. Change your name mate and face facts.

There are more issues than just his weight regarding the movies Steven is making currently. For one thing, Hollywood will not touch him with a bargepole, regardless of his weight. He does not have the backing of any of the people he used to, and without that, he will not get the good scripts and good directors he needs to make the sort of movies he used to. Not to mention the fact that his kind of "action" movie is very much out of style. His brand of realistic martial arts work does not dazzle the way wire work and monkey kung fu does, and the latter seems to be the kind of thing people going to action movies want to see these days (or, at least, the only kinds of movies the studios will release).

Secondly, bleating on and on and on about the "good old days" will not bring them back, no matter how heartily you might wish it. If you want the same kind of movies now as he made in the early nineties, you're going to be in for a big disappointment. There may be other reasons besides his age and weight why he doesn't kick ass the way he used to - like, maybe he doesn't want to.

I can see by your comments that you're one who wants Steven to stay 39 years old forever. It isn't realistic. Should he lose weight? Probably. Will he? That's up to him (according to the one article posted here recently, he's supposed to have lost 24 lbs by the start of his next movie). Me, I'm just grateful he's still making movies at all. And if the OFAK trailer is anything to go by, he's still got the moves, at speed with no camera tricks, that he used to, regardless of his weight.

Face it, Pottsy: it's not 1990, Steven's not 39 years old any more, Hollywood has changed and Steven is persona non grata among the suits who run the show these days.

If you find watching Steven's recent movies so distasteful to your sensibilities, then I suggest you don't watch them.

And here's a thought, about US3, in the unlikely event that it is going to get made... Casey Ryback has been a cook for 10 years. It would be perfectly logical for Ryback to be heavier than he was the last time we saw him. Oh, the horror! <evil grin>

I watch his new movies in the hope one of them might be good.

when I say I wish his new movies were like his old ones, I meen ENJOYABLE, not loads of old rubbish.

I have no doubt he can still do the moves, but he doesn't.

don't get me wrong, I am not a Seagal basher, I love his movies just as much as you lot, only I will call a sh!t film a sh!t film, and I will say it how it is, Seagal just looks Lazy these days, and since Exit wounds, everything he has touched has been rubbish. I hope OFAK is good, the trailer looks good, then again, so did the trailers for HPD and the Foreigner

Oh Yeah, and the only chance he has of losing 24lbs before his next movie is chopping off a foot.

Yeah, will we ever see US3? Welcome STU. Why pick that name?
:p Hi Storm. thanks for the welcome! I chose "STU" as it is my name, that simple and that unoriginal ( I wanted to use stude but that had been used .... stu-dude .), who knows if we'll see US3? I hope we will though, I like the other two. #2 being my favourite.

:D I would agree with your there dude, since Exit wounds his films have been of less calibre. Saying that though they are still watchable, althought they don't give you that kind of rush from seeing a good Aikido kicking as his earlier ones. We are all hoping; no doubt, that Steve will use good camera work in his new films, to fully show the ass kicking he is doing, not some arty farty edited ****e, as in a some of his recent films.

I Belong To Steven
dscpotts, how dare you call him fat slug! :mad2:
Your ego is obviously bigger than your brain...
Why are you letting his career feed your ego?
(Or not feed it as the case may be now, since you are so hoplessly worried about his looks)
Honestly, you sound like a pitiful wanna be to me...
Frankly, it's just sickening...
I guess you need to find another pastime, because face it, he is the way he is...
He is a big (and might I say very yummy) man...
And if you don't like him, don't watch him, that would solve the problem, eh?
Go chop off your own foot...
Maybe then you would feel a little something about the human condition and become a little more understanding, and you would quit running around calling someone you supposedly admire a fat slug...
Sorry if I sound like a whiney little girl, but I think what you said was disgusting...
And Steven, if you read this, I love you, baby!
You are great!

Well said, Lotus. I was considering a suitable sharp rejoinder myself, but you took the words right out of my mouth.

Ha Ha Ha Lotusan you do make me laugh. Half the time I 'm not sure if you are joking about or not. You really do think Steven is that hot. DO YOU HAVE A BRAIL KEYBOARD???????

I say these things because, Steven used to bring me much happiness with his movies, now I just look forward to the next one in the hope it isn't as bad as the last.

The man is looking old, he lost weight in Exit Wounds, acted solidly and did a lot of fight work, and it was a very good film for steven. Since then he has piled on the pounds and produced 3 terrible films Ticker, HPD and the foreigner. We all like Steven for his Martial arts skills, I'm sure it's not for his oscar winning acting skills. His last 3 films have had the worst action/martial arks in them I have ever seen.

I am all for good films and good action, if he could still provide that, looking the way he does I wouldn't have a problem, but he can't, so for his own sake he should change that.

come on, fire away. I AM WAITING FOR YOUR RESPONSES, oh no, some one has just made an honest coment about my lovely steven Seagal, I can't have that.............................

Storm

Smile dammit!
By the way dcspotts you are entitled to an opinion but so is Lotus. Everyone knows she is a massive fan so what did you expect? I agree his latest films aren't top notch but could we do it at that age? As long as he makes movies i'll be watching them.

It sounds to me as if dscpotts feels only one person's opinion counts, and that is his own. Heaven forfend anyone should disagree with him... doing so means we're blind and stupid.

While I appreciate that you (dscpotts) are sincere in your desire for Steven to go back to doing what he was 13 years ago, it ain't going to happen. Steven looks old because he *is* old, dearie, and nothing is going to change that. And if he's doing less action and more acting in his films, I'm sure he's not doing so because his objective is to personally annoy you (although that is a possibility).

I've given my opinion elsewhere and at great length about the why's and why not's of Steven's martial arts work, so I won't take up space by writing it down here yet again. I, along with many others, am simply grateful that Steven is making any movies at all; and while I might want more of him making the moves, I'm perfectly happy seeing him in roles that don't require him to do so.

And a word to the wise, Pottsy: there's something to remember when engaging in discussion with others, and one disagrees with another's opinion. And that is, it's okay to disagree - goodness knows, I'm sure many here disagree with me, and I with them, but that doesn't stop any of us from sharing our thoughts and having some lively discussions thereby - but never - NEVER - launch a personal attack on the individual with whom you disagree. Being unhappy about Steven's fitness is one thing. Being nasty to the individual who defended her hero (and mine too, incidentally) and her right to disagree with you is something else. It isn't done. Not here. Not with our eagle-eyed moderators. Not if you want to stay and play with the rest of us.

-TD, in defence of well-tempered discussions
