Duh!!! I had not noticed that baby's ears! Guess I was too focussed on its eyes... or I need new glasses <G>.

here's a story i've just read in going to my office.
In wellington (new zeland), a band of dolphins saved the life of a group of swimmers threaten by a big white shark of 3 meters. the dolphins made a circle around the swimmers to protect them with their bodies.
When two swimmers tried to escape the circle of dolphins, 2 big dolphins came to re-push them inside the circle. And it's at this moment that the swimmers understood why the dolphins were acting like that. At this moment they saw the big shark which were coming in thier direction.

What an incredible story and what wonderful animals! Dolphin is a creature full of mercy, generosity and honnesty. Despite what men already did to them, they keep on protecting man. I love this animal. We have a lot to learn from him. It's not the first time that we can read such story (of a dolphin or a wales saving a man's life from a shark attack).
If we could all be as ggod as them!

Ah... Dolphins are a mystery...

Herebelow is a pic taken recently in California. This baby's Mom was killed by a car, he/she is being bottle-fed by the big boy's humans but *he* takes care of the TLC... :)))
When the fawn is big enough, he/she will go to a Family that has already raised and released several of his/her fellow-creatures, where he/she will also learn that stranger dogs are not to be trusted... Hope he/she will also be taught that NO car is to be trusted :-(

The dog who's nursing that baby and sharing his bed with him/her is a Rhodesian Ridgeback boy, also known as "African Lion dog" - actually Ridgebacks are sight hounds; the name "Ridgeback" refers to the ridge of hair, on their back, that forms a crest of reversed hair along the spine. They were originally bred for hunting big game... keeping lions at bay... and visibly they can make the difference between a fawn and a lion ;-)))

When driving in the countryside, please think of all the babies whose survival depends on their Mom's life... Please slow down for them.......

Wellness to All...

The turkey is one creature that just doesn't bring out a lot of sympathy in me. :D

What a touching story. thanx for sharing. and you're right, we must be careful when we drive along wood or forest 'cos' there are a lot of animals which can cross the stree. If they are females there's a risk to condamn their potential baby.

1) The odd couple: A tigress walks along a piglet at the Sri Racha tiger zoo, the world's largest tiger breeding centre in Thailand, as it reopens following a bird flu outbreak. 11-18-2004

2) Khan, a two-year-old white lion, enjoys a crisp and sunny day at Almaty Zoo November 23, 2004. Khan, one of the few dozen white lions counted worldwide, has recently become a new zoo inhabitant in Kazakhstan's financial capital.

3) (This one's for you, Heather. :)) An orangutan and its baby peer from behind the glass of their enclosure in the Moscow zoo, November 18, 2004. The Moscow zoo was founded in 1864 and now has a collection of 6,094 animals of 1,001 species.

4) Kojo, a baby great ape, feeds on a pumpkin during the annual pumpkin squash at the National Zoo in Washington Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004. Zoo keepers put out pumpkins for the orangutans, great apes, pandas and elephants for them to play with, eat and squash for the annual event.

5) President Bush and handlers keep a tight hold on Biscuits the turkey during the Pardoning of the National Thanksgiving Turkey ceremony in the Rose Garden of the White House, Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, in Washington. After the ceremony, the turkey will be retired to the Kidwell Farm petting zoo at Frying Pan Park in Herndon, Va.

Ain't I always quiet...? ;-)))
I am fine, Serena, Thank you very much for your concern.
I'm just busy making things for Christmas, and my Hound is not well then I stay with her - she can't go up the stairs to my "office": Japanese stairs are NOT hound-friendly... :-(
The vet came this afternoon, said there is a (canine) gastric flu epidemic in the area... I'm not used to seeing my big beast so lazy, I freaked out... She should be her normal self again within 2-3 days.

The bright side of my big one's illness is I have finally found a vet who is willing to try and take care of the wee one's teeth without anesthesia...! I thought the 7 other vets to whom I asked whether they'd do it feared for their fingers - that's what *they* said... - then I asked this tiny Lady why she did not fear for hers... she laughed and said that as far as she knows, the reason why most vets are reluctant to perform scaling without anesthesia is that it takes more time while they can charge less... which rang more true to my ears than the other 7's "excuse", when you consider it's not their fingers they put in the dog's mouth and a tech or the dog owner is holding the dog still...
Now when you have an old dog who cannot be put under because his/her heart would not stand it, and his/her teeth really need some cleaning/scaling, and you know that a decayed tooth can turn into a systemic infection, what are you supposed to do...? I got the answer now...: either find a vet who does not mind "wasting" her time <G>, or tell your regular vet that you are willing to pay the high price. Silly me... I had spent a day on the phone trying to find a vet who'd be willing to "risk their fingers" for my wee one's sake, while I should just have talked $$$... Duh!!
...Sorry for rambling...
I'm gonna go back downstairs now and see how my beasts <G> are doing...

Wellness to All,
and Happy Thanksgiving to All our American Friends!
