Review : Attack Force

OK, you guys know me. I've been on this forum for a while now and you guys know where I stand about Seagal.
I managed to get my hands on a copy of Attack Force, but I've only managed to watch 30 minutes of the movie so I won't go into a full review until I see it all, I'll only give you a few opinions.
SOME SPOILERS
FIRST: Nice looking opening credits in terms of the writing, but I don't get why the background is of people in underwear partying. Maybe it has something to do with the drug storyline.
SECOND: FOR THE ENTIRE FIRST 5 (FIVE) MINUTES SEAGAL IS ENTIRELY DUBBED. And I mean the worst kind of voive dubbing, as in the guy does NOT sound like Seagal, does NOT even try to sound like Seagal.
THIRD: In this movie there are a lot of people using some strange type of blade weapon. Like a sword that comes out of the sleeve of their coats. Seagal fights one of these blade weapon guys, BUT the fight is so badly edited that ALTHOUGH IT IS SEAGAL FIGHTING, YOU CAN'T REALLY SEE IT. It's the quick-edit kind of fight where everything is over in 5 seconds. Also, some moments of the fight seem to have been sped up during editing (artificial speeding up) to make it look like Seagal and the bad guy are moving faster than they really are
FOURTH: Seagal looks FATTER than ever, and he wears a BLACK RAINCOAT that is TOO BIG FOR HIM. It looks bad, but it's better than the leather coats of the past. Too bad this BLACK RAINCOAT looks like it cost around 5$, it's the nasty, cheap kind.
FIFTH: THERE IS VOICE DUBBING ON SOME OF THE OTHER ACTORS AS WELL. And it's very bad, sometimes their lip movement does NOT even match the words we hear.
SIXTH: The drug storyline is ok, BUT it's told in the worst manner possible, through voice dubbing and bad editing and sometimes it does NOT make sense. Look for the scene in which Seagal's team of young well-trained soldiers get killed after hiring a hooker. Real experienced hardcore soldiers would not act like complete idiotic horny teenagers like these guys do.
SEVENTH: The movie looks good visually, has some nice music and at least for the first 30 minutes that I've seen has a nice, clear storyline that is easier to follow than almost ALL of Seagal's DTV movies
EIGHTH: In one scene the body double is back, it's when Seagal's character is walking in broad daylight and is filmed from a distant profile shot. I guess it's too hide the fact that Seagal looks fatter than before.
Ok, those are my initial opinions. Seagal does look fatter than before, but he DOES NOT look as bored or as tired or as dirty as before. The movie seems like it could be fun, but nowhere near the quality of other DTV movies from other action stars. Too bad the voice dubbing is SO BAD, that it makes you throw the movie away. AWFUL VOICE DUBBING. Also, too bad they messed up the alien storyline because you can still see some parts of that storyline in the movie and it really could have been like something out of an X-FILES episode. The drug story is cool, BUT they butchered the movie in order to make it fit the storyline.
ALSO: the movie says that it takes place in the USA and France, but IT IS CLEAR that it was filmed 100% in Romania since they use Romanian army jeeps and so many Romanian actors that it could pass as a Romanian movie with only a couple of foreign actors in it. (I am Romanian living in Romania, so I would know)
Better than crap like Out for A Kill or Out of Reach or Mercenary for Justice, but still NOT A GOOD MOVIE...
And if Seagal does not take control of his movie career, it might be over very soon. It's going that way.
Lose the weight, the voice dubbing, make an honest and simple action movie and Seagal could be back, but if he keeps making these "only good when you're drunk" movies, his status as an action star will be forgotten VERY, VERY soon. He's quickly becoming a joke of his former self, (he might already be there).
I'm losing hope...There is potential, but with each new crap movie he puts out I think that the only way to see a good Seagal movie is to rent the ones before Half Past Dead.
Heck, even The Patriot was better than his last 5-6 movies...

So, the story is bad, but not as weird as in the last few dtvs. But still too weird. Why they don't do a SIMPLE ACTION FLICK!! I don't get it. So its about bitches and soldiers that are going crazy because of drugs, and Seagal is a Marshall that has to fight against them. Like i said its not that werid as in Shadow Man, and its a bit easier to follow, but still after 30-40 minutes its getting really boring. (Just more scenes where someone talks to each other, conspiracy here, betrayal there, and so on... i didn't like the story at all, even if its starts not "that bad"

The Action was bad. Not too much and bad. The editing was not extremely bad but still bad. A lot of shootous (But nothing special, just standard) with a lot of blood. Like always. There were not much action, and unfortunately no real fights. Just a big knife fighting with this special knives at the end, and a lot of soldier shootouts, but 90% of them in the dark. you don't see really much. its bad...

Its starts cool when Steven is going out of a hummer and punches a guy down. But its only for 5 seconds, and like in every single fight in this movie its so extremely slowmotion, that its not cool, and the camera is so near to Steven that you can't see the movie really well. There are really no more cool fights with seagal. He punches one man down with 1 punch 20 minutes later. And then at the end there is a fight with this special knives, but really bad too, to much fast- and slowmotion and no cool moves. Really bad.

I don't remind seeing his stunt double so much, but its logical because there aren't really fight scenes with Steven. He just running around with a gun. A

There aren't much cgi effects, but if they are some, there made OK. No bad helicopter explosion or something like that. Really ok.

Was ok... The story isn't good at all, but the cinematopgraphy was not "that bad". But still bad and much worse than in dtvs like Belly of the Beast as example...

Im really disappointed. It starts not that bad, but after 30 minutes the story is getting crappy. Talking, Talking, Talking, shooting in the dark, Talking, one punch of Steven, Talking, Talking, Talking, A big shootout in the dark (you can't see who are the good and who are the bad guys), A slow motion knife fight with Steven, its over. So thats the movie! Really bad... Shadow Man was better even if it sucked too!!! We mad so much cricits about movies like "Out for a Kill" but they were so much better. A lot of fights, stories easy to follow and so on... Here we have a crappy story, no real fights, crappy action, just a bad movie, im really disappointed.

Now im looking forward to Enemy of the Unseen (Flight of the Fury), as i know its coming out in Switzerland in German for RENTAL DVD at the 6. of March. Do you guys know when its coming out in America?! I think January or February, because the'yre coming ALWAYS at least 1 or 2 month before realease in Switzerland.
Lets hope its better than this crappy flick

From the review at DVD Talk the reviewer said Steven Seagal nor the director had much control over the movie. It might explain why it seems poor with lots of dubbing. From various sources on the internet it does not seem to get very many positive comments. Lots of dubbing again with someone who does not even sound like him, and the noticeable presence of the stunt double.
I don't think there is much chance of Steven Seagal getting a future theatrical release for any movie in the future if things don't improve. He's been losing fans for a while. Not many people will now pay $15 to buy the movie as the past movies have not been of decent standard.
Anyway i might watch this tonight and post a review tomorrow. After Shadow Man i was quite looking forward to Attack Force, but from what i've heard so far it is not good

Just watched the first 35 minutes.
Just one word for it: CRAP!
There is no flow in this movie, it's not a B-movie, this quality doesn't have a letter from the alfabet.
And it's clear the voice dubbing has something to do with the script changes.
And everytime you see seagal at his back it's a double => just look at the hair.
I hope to able to get through the entire movie tomorrow, today I just couldn't bare to watch it all the way.
