Steven Seagal and Chuck Norris

are more than likely my two favorite martial artists simply because they believe in Jesus and Heavenly Father. I have never heard other martial art actors claiming their spiritual beliefs so publicly as Seagal and Norris have. I'd like to know exactly what Speakman, VanDamme, Statham, Lundgren, Snipes, Li, Chan, and much more, their spiritual beliefs are? Has anyone discovered any recent interviews of the actors I've mentioned?

I like both Seagal and Norris, both as actor's and the person themselves, but I actually thought that Chuck Norris, might have been buddist since Chuck Norris understudy for
Bruce Lee.

Really? That's Awesome! I didn't know Mr. Seagal was a CHRISTian. I knew Mr. Norris & his son were CHRISTians but not Mr. Seagal. I thought Mr. Seagal was Budhist. Do you know if he is part Italian & part Native American or just Italian? I do know we share a lot of the same beliefs, though. His movies certainly have have encouraged me, through a lot of difficult times in my life....Encouraging reminders that eventually oppressors do reap what they sew in this life and that those they oppress will eventually get delivered.... Thank GOD for that! Hopefully those oppressor will repent before it is too late....Mr. Seagal truley is a Blessing!

no need to be afraid. I'f I'm mistaken then why does Steven Seagal promote christianity in his movies? Like when he was reminding his son to pray in Jesus' name in "Hard To Kill"?

I'm not certain if Steven Seagal is part native american as far as enrollment goes, but he is adopted into the Blackfeet tribe in Montana. Plus, Steven Seagal promotes the progression of native american indian tribal rights in his films. Now that's got to say something about Steven Seagal's love for native american tribal peoples. Plus, I can't remember what format a past interview or article of Steven Seagal's, but he mentioned that his ancestries were of many cultures.

I read somewhere that Stevan Seagal is just a regular "american", not native american or part Italian etc. Born in Detroint Michigan, there is some confusion about his part Italian roots becuase in his first film "Above the law" he introduced himself , his character in the movie as pbeing born to italian parents, but that's only the storyline, not reality.I'm sure about that.Anyway it adds to his mytique that is all the more attractive as it is mysterious.

Italian/Native Am. ?

Hi Don and Halkush. Thanks for the info. I just asked because I am part Chactaw(as well as English, German & Irish Roots), but I was curious about his roots; he does look part Italian & Native American to me. I like asking people where they are from so if they speak any of the foreign languages I know a little or a lot of, I can relate to them in those languages. I LOVE learning other languages and about other cultures....Steven has a good ear for languages becuses he speaks other languages very well, in all his movies. To me, that is awesome! I Love the way he speaks Russian and Mandarin Chinese, which I know a good bit of both. It sounds like beautiful music to me.

Hi Mystery Mom! Wow! I am Jewish CHRISTian, although raised in a Baptist Church and have some family who are Catholic. I read Email from Beliefnet(Jewish,Catholic,CHRISTian & Buddhist). I have A Complete Jewish Bible(NT/OT), Have a Bible in Hebrew&English, a Bible in Greek&English and a lot of Jewish/CHRISTian Jewish Worship & Praise CD's in Hebrew&English) and a lot of Jewish/Russian Jewish study books in English & know some Worship songs in Russian & Hebrew. Now I see why I can relate to Mr. Seagal so much!!! And eventhough Buddhist are not CHRISTians, they Live/Walk/practice a lot of YESHUA JESUS CHRIST teachings/applied CHRISTian Principles & Beliefs. Thanks for letting me know this. Now I know I am destined to meet Steven one day....The Bible says our steps are ordered of the LORD.

Although he was raised as one. He chose
to become a Buddhist.

As far as I know he is neither of Native American

During an interview in France on the TV,he said that his mother was of Italian origin and her father or Russian origin towards Mongolia.He is Buddhist well on ! But for us all this has no importance,he is Steven Seagal and we love him !He is a wonderful men.

I know now...

I know that Now, that Steven is Buddhist & had past roots in CHRISTianity. The reason I previously asked if he was 1/2 Native Am. & 1/2 Italian, is because I LOVE learning about different cultures & studying different languages & about different religions... To me, other languages sound SO Beautiful, like music but Especially Russian, Hebrew, Italian and Greek... Which I know a little of each but especially Russian & good bit of Hebrew... Plus I wanted to know, for when I met Mr. Seagal one day, so I can speak to him in those languages. Being open to learning ALL about other cultures makes one well rounded, in my opinion; I'm just particularly Fond of Russian, Hebrew, Greek, Spanish & Mandarian Chinese. I do think Steven Seagal is a Beautiful person, regardless of his roots, and Never meant him any disrespect whatsoever.

CHRISTians & Buddhist

Although I am Jewish CHRISTian I love to study different religions-cultures-languages and love all peoples... I subscrib to emails from Beliefnet-Jewish,CHRISTian,Catholic & Buddhist. From what I read and from people I have met, the Buddhist actually teach & practice a lot of the teachings of YESHUA-CHRIST JESUS. In most respects, they are a lot like Jewish CHRISTian/CHRISTians(those who Actually PRACTICE & LIVE their Faith In ADONAI & YESHUA). Alot of people do not understand this because they lack mature wisdom/knowledge or true faith in the LORD ADONAI. We all grow in our faith every day, when we seek the LORD. Some grow slower than other, depending on the time they spend with the LORD. Even though Steven chooses to be Buddhist, He is Still my Brother and is a beautiful person. The LORD ADONAI gives gifts and callings without repentence. Steven is very gifted and has a special GOD-Given purpose in life. I see that in the Spirit! Hope all of you have a Blessed Day!

I would have to disagree with you on that, Steeven, I think many people reject Christianity later in life, whether to follow an easier secular path or to follow a different spiritual path.
I know what you mean about Steven's characters, especially in his earlier movies, but I also think that this changes in some of his later movies... maybe I will have to watch them all in sequence to be more specific. (Now there's an appealing "research" task!)
But I also think that there is a definite theme in all his movies about justice, fairness, kindness to people and Earth, and a rejection of greed, thoughtlessness and cruelty. These are not exclusively Christian values - they are found in many spiritual creeds.
