Lovely to still find chivalry and good manners.
We, my husband and i still shake our heads at the young people on trains, buses and public transport, they never stand up and give up their seats for elderly folk or pregnant women or women with babies even if the sign above a chair says to do so.
The other day i spoke to a woman, in her 30's who refused to give up the seat for disabled people for an elderly lady standing right in front of her, she was so ashamed she did get up, but what gets me is that they don't think of it themselves.
In London or Australia I would be too afraid to speak like that in case I'm bashed.
Also I got up for a pregnant woman with a small child on the train, she was with her elderly mother, who remarked in Cantonese,( I understand that language,)
"It takes an expat to stand up and give her seat, our Chinese people don't even think of it."
but this is not just in Hong kong, or China, It is everywhere, in London, in Australia too.
Is it that we who went to school in the 50's and 60's and 70's were taught core values of respect and good manners in School or at home and now these core values are left for children to learn or work out for themselves?
I don't know, all I know is that rudeness and selfish behaviours are rampant and more visible today than 20-30 years ago, or am i just plain old fashioned?
that's why i love Steven Seagal , becuase what he stands for is true blue good core values.
Peace and love to all,
Halkush
