When Would You Tell a Lie?

People call Steven a pathological liar all the time, but I don't just assume that he is, that would be a very bad thing to do...No-one can know what he means unless they have lived his life, so I don't assume anything, I just accept it...I am sure many people think that I am not sincere about my feelings about Steven, but I totally am, I am not hiding anything...I am not a bull**** artist like some people calling the kettle black...At least I am who I say I am, some people here can't even tell the truth about something like that...

Do I lie, Yes when I feel it's best.

I'm often asked by someone if their loved one was in pain when they died in the ER or other part of the hospital. I am not going to add unnecessary grief and pain by telling the truth that the person died in agony before we could kill the pain.

If you are asked by an enemy soldier if you have seen someone they want, no way would I tell them and I haven't though it can get a person knocked around a bit.

I believe in the truth unless it can only cause harm.

Exactly Hallarian!

Just recently they released on the news about that soldier who had reportedly been killed when Jessica Lynch had been captured..now they have changed the story that he had been taken prisoner & at some point killed...did his family really need to hear that he might have been tortured first?

Absolutely!

Hallarian you're right on the money with this one. It's part of training in the Intelligence community ... especially for espionage...

It's not a lie if you believe it's not

-Did you kill Johanson?
-No.
-Once again,did you kill Johanson?
-No.
-Amazing.The lie detector shows he's not lying.

After the test. The interrogated one thinking to himself.
"I got it.The guy I killed was named Johanson."

Steve's Destiny
Actually...you don't

I don't see where this comment comes from and how it relates to my comment. I am not even talking about Steven. As I recall the topic was lies...

And no you don't have the slightest idea of my intentions with him. All jokes aside, he is a high tulku in the lineage I follow, and I respect him as such. If anything I would request a particular teaching for which his previous emanation was known to be accomplished for. I have my sense of humor and so does he, and I know nothing I have said has offended him in any way. You'd be surprised of how easy going most Rinpoches are.

Maybe you are just projecting...

We all know your intentions with him...Oh my....

Oh, please...
You throw yourself at him all the time...
Maybe they are just jokes on your part, and maybe I am just projecting...
But I'm certainly not joking about my attraction to him...
You know him well, do you?
Must be nice...
I guess we all think we do in some way, but maybe you know more than most of us...
I do respect his position very much, I think that is a very big part of my attraction to him, as well as a whole host of other things...
He's powerful, oh yeah....

It's just one of those times I remember to keep my mouth shut which is another thing I'm not good at as you've probably noticed.

Hallarian don't even worry about it...

... the point of having a forum is to start discussion and to keep the communication going ... it's not for people to be quiet.

I don't lie just to lie. Just like a lot of others on here it all depends on the situation.

My 2 teenage cousins were at my house Monday through Thursday this past week. While I was school and work they were here alone. They had no respect for my home at all. The air is on and they would have the doors wide open. All that money going out of the door. They are 17 and they are old enough to have respect and responsibility. Even though I had told them to keep the doors shut at all times, they still would open them when i was at work. I am not a mean person , and no matter how bad they really pissed me off when their mother called and asked me was they getting on my nerves.. I said a little. Well my aunt got on the phone with her daughter and told her she could tell in my voice that I didn't want her at my house. This hurt my cousins feelings. So I told my cousin her momma doesn't know how I feel or what I am thinking. That it was not true. So I lied to keep her feelings from being hurt. Then I got pissed off at my aunt for telling her I didn't want her here. I don't nor did I mind them being here. I just want them to respect me and my home while they are here. So yes if telling the truth will hurt someone in anyway... I want tell the truth. I don't blantly lie either. I mean I said her momma didn't know what she was talking about, but I also didn't say "oh, no Melissa I love it when you are here. I wish you would move in." I almost had to make my other cousin go home so my husband and I could have our days off alone together. They stayed for 4 days. I think that's plenty.

Oops...Just a while ago I was boasting I hadn't told lies for a long time.
Now I'm forced to do it nearly everyday.

I have to agree with some of you. I would dance around the truth to protect someone without lying. You just do not answer questions point blank.
