Good luck with the job TD!

Got any binoculars? Find a neighbor with their drapes open & watch their tv :)

With no sound? What's the fun in that? I suppose I could dub the dialogue myself... couldn't do any worse than what we've been getting in Steven's movies lately, I suppose! ;)

A full day without TV. Withdrawal symptoms continue. Had no idea what to do with myself after coming home from class. Read a book. Played some video games. Didn't write.

Oh, and I might have a three-day contract this week. I'll know more tomorrow. If I get it, I'll schedule a half-hour with the massage therapist. I love going to the massage therapist. I feel so-o-o-o-o good afterwards....

Amos I suppose bad advice is better than no advice! :D :D

Yes, well, with Amos, one has to be vewy, vewy caweful when taking his advice. (sez TD in her best imitation of Elmer Fudd).

One is liable to end up - liable!

Maybe the cop will be single & cute TD :)

In my experience, single, cute cops look for sweet, young, nubile things they can show off to their mates at the division picnic, not crotchety, decrepit old cows like me :(

Many a good tune played on an old fiddle i say! Cheer up girls.

Eh, don't I wish.... I remember one fellow whom I was seeing briefly, told me straight out, he was always looking for something better. It took a while for that to sink in, desperate old broad that I was, and when it did, wasn't he surprised when I finally gave him the heave-ho.

It doesn't help, though, when people see celebrities of advanced or advancing years with barely-pubescent drop-dead gorgeous dolls on their arms. The message is pretty clear: "old girls are worthless - wouldn't be caught dead with one in a 10-mile-radius". Meanwhile, the old girls are doing everything they can to remain youthful looking. Facelifts, tummy-tucks, breast-lifts, botox, collagen - but it doesn't seem to work. Most of them still get the boot from hubby. And if thousands of dollars of cosmetic work doesn't work for them, what hope is there for the rest of us who just have to manage with off-the-shelf aids that don't do any good, anyhow?

I've only ever met one man who put character above beauty. She who became his wife had a severe facial deformity, but he was so taken with her character, he married her, and they had one daughter. I think she eventually dumped him because he was a high-school dropout (ex-stoner, who only stopped smoking dope when he realised it was affecting his ability to father a child) working as a janitor, while she was a university graduate with a high-placed job in a big corporation. He couldn't keep up with her, intellectually.

Almost every other fellow of my acquaintance puts youth and beauty above all else.

It's hard to compete with the air-brushed beauties that are set up as the "ideal" in every magazine you care to open. Men want the fantasy. Faced with reality, most of them will turn and run. Those that don't, well, they'll take reality until "something better comes along."

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder-the way you see yourself is how others see ya..

"O, wald some power the giftie gie us, to see ourselves as ithers see us" - Robert Burns.

Alas, it's too true - others see me as old, useless, unlovable and ugly. Hard not to see myself that way, too.

No, I haven't written anything yet! Sheesh! :D :D :D And now I've got an excuse - I've got a couple days' work coming my way, and because it's a big job with a short deadline, I'll be working until all hours of the night to get it done in time. So there! :p :D

The real problem is that while I have the novel outlined, I haven't found a good starting off point yet. Once I find that, there'll be no stopping me. It'll all be written out in a rush. I once wrote a 50,000 word novel in just under two weeks.

That is great about the big job!!

So writers really use those outlines and note cards we learned about in school?

I should have paid better attention and maybe I could put a paragraph together!!
I am not a very good writer, wish I were!! :(

I envy this in you!! :)

People think writing is easy... it isn't. For a long time I was just writing "off-the-cuff" and sometimes that works. But for something the length of a novel, that requires more planning. Outlines help that way. I also do character "cards" - little histories of major characters that may or may not actually end up in the story, but it gives me the direction I want to go in, with the characters. Oftentimes, things change as the story is being written, so nothing in the outlines or the character cards is written in stone.

AARRRGGGHHHH!

I swear an ill-omened star has risen on my horizon.

The contract got postponed. Hopefully, just postponed. It looks like the work isn't going to come in until next week. I really needed that money next week, too - and it's too late this week now to get anything else.

ARRRGGGHHHHH!

I'm definitely in the wrong line of work. Just had a peek at the website that lists sales of screenplays, and found one where the writer, having already been paid $1 million to write the script, then sold it for another $10 million in a two-hour bidding war. I'm not sure what "against 15% of the gross" means - I suspect he gets the $10 million, and if 15% of the gross exceeds that figure, he gets the difference as well.

Yikes!

My father's taken another leap into the Twilight Zone. :(

He received a letter from the Public Health department about a bacteria that's circulating that he might have come in contact with while at the hospital, and that he should get checked out by a doctor at the earliest opportunity.

He's convinced it's from the home care people, and that he was the only one who got this letter, and that they are targetting him in retaliation for the threats he made them about suing them for not providing home care when he asked for it.

He's now trying to contact other people who were in the hospital at the same time he was, just to prove that he's the only one in all of the province that got this letter.

What's going to happen when he gets an answer he doesn't want to hear?

I'm terrified of even talking to him any more. If I say anything that indicates I'm not on "his side", he's going to go off the deep end again, and then what?

There are times when I just want to run away from my life.

Yes, I did. Right now the landscape is all shades of grey. All the colours have faded, and even the flowers have turned their faces away.

I think I'll take myself out for a walk. That usually makes me feel better.
