Opinions are fine and I am not closed minded. You don't know me and therefore shouldn't pass judgement on me so quickly. I just think that added comments like "It's not over until the fat lady (or man) sings" is cruel and unjust. You can state your opinions without being cruel. I would rather listen to someone tell me what I'm doing wrong or where I could improve in a nice way.
You catch more bees with honey, not vinegar!!
I'm trying to make friends here not enemies.
I'm not angry that you have your opinions and I have mine. That's what makes the world so great. We are not all the same, if we were it would be a boring place to live. No hard feelings here.

Couldnt agree more. But a little negativity is expected. I agree, maybe there are better ways to phrase certain things, but it is no secret that people are upset with Seagal and would like to see change.

"This is not a communist board."

LOL but that makes no sense :D

Anyways, I agree that it is wrong to a degree for a martial artist who is an action star to use doubles for everything he does - the fighting and the speech. But isn't that what a martial arts movie is ALL about? - fights and some talk ... lately, Seagal's doubles do both. So Seagal cannot be praised as he used to be for his movie making skills. Yes, Steven Seagal is a wise, spiritual man, who can talk all complex and stuff - and that's a good thing, but maybe he reached that point in an actor's life when he should rather help write and direct with a little acting on the side and some major movies once in a while - instead of the multiple flicks that have a feeling of some cheap porno movies (or so I've heard someone describe it as such :D ... you know who you are :D). Anyways, I'd rather see one good seagal movie once every five years than five badly made movies each year. There's that old saying that people should learn from their and other's mistakes, so criticism is very important for actors to note where they've gone wrong. One good example of an action star who abides by such is Van Damme ... Seagal on the other hand does not. I wish him all the best and I respect him but I do not appreciate watching some movie by a martial arts icon who does not do much martial arts or acting. I think some of you are right - the doubles should be credited ... and maybe put on the front of the cover... Much improvement needs to be seen.

Agreed. Of course Seagal has the ability to do well, he is just not using all of his potential.

"he is just not using all of his potential"

Agreed. But here's where the question lies... Does he want to?

I can still see him making films for a while yet. Will they be of better quality? That is in Seagal's hands. For a start,I don't think Seagal would want to quit making films knowing that his rival of some years,Van Damme,is still gonna churn them out(maybe I am wrong?).That Seagal retire rumour was about as right as a cow jumping over the moon-it just aint gonna happen.Keep the faith.

Hmm, my first post on this site so hello everyone. I'm glad I can be a part of it. Most of above posts were both defending or "accusing" Seagal's movies. I am a person who like people who are not afraid to say different things than others does. But I don't think that this forum, on fan appreciation site, is a good place to tell that kind of things about Seagal's career. Some of You have gone too far in posts I think. Personally I'm very happy that Steven's movies are not the same as they were in early beginnings. Everything is changing and we cannot expect that Steven Seagal will make another ten "Hard To Kill" movies (although is my favourite one). As a fan I respect his decisions and "works". In other case I wouldn't be here wasting my time. I think You should do in a similar way. If You have something against Steven Seagal go and make a unappreciative site. It will be a good place to share with others all the negative opinions some of You have said above. But it's only my personal opinion. Once again hello everyone and take care of yourselves.

I agree with Tiggy on this one. The path of Seagal's career is in his hands right now. I believe that he has to realize that right now, if he wants to get his foot back in the door (get back into theaters) he is going to have to accept a role as something other then a leading man in an action movie. There are quite a few different routes he can take but, I think the problem has to do with his ego. He needs to do a movie that has another big name in it even if Seagal himself is overshadowed, I believe it is the only way for him to revive his career.

I am a new member, but not a new fan, of Steven Seagal. I came to this site to find other people who enjoyed his movies, and wanted to discuss his life, celebrity status, his religious views, and how we have all been moved, in some way, by him. I have read past posts for about the last 2 hours, and I am not sure I'd want to read most of the posts if I were Steven Seagal. I have always loved his movies, and find him to be one of the most charismatic men I've ever seen. The fact is the man is just that, a man, and has feelings and problems, that we, his adoring public, are not privy to. I don't think any one can stand under the white hot light of public, and not always polite, observation and come out just perfect. I have enjoyed watching his movies, and I, for one, am glad he exists in this little fishbowl we all live in.

FireDancer,
I fully agree but there is little that we can do

it doesn't become over run with the blood-suckers.

Welcome to the board, Firedancer.

Discussions about Steven Seagal can get a bit lively, but it's all in good fun, and stops only if one of those in the discussion suddenly turns personal on the other. This hasn't happened in a while, since we all know the rules here.

I, for one, would not like to see this site turn into an all praise and glory to his name site, simply because then there would be nothing to discuss.

Each of us are fans in our own way, and we express ourselves and our thoughts and feelings about Steven Seagal accordingly. Critical debate is one of those ways for some among us. If engaging in critical debate is something a new member doesn't enjoy, there are plenty of other ways of participating on this site available that might be more to a new member's taste.

Enjoy!
