Well, I already got more entertainment value out of the Ruslan trailer than I got from watching the entire running time of Kill Switch. Maybe that's a good sign.

Well it should be released in just under 3 weeks, but again no screener, no DVD cover up on Amazon, no picture... I hope this movie is released at the time it was supposed to. I am dying to see this movie, I honestly feel this will be Seagal's BEST dtv release of all time!

Действительно, картина призвана убедить и показать миру, что Стивен по-прежнему в строю, так же активен и способен на многое, как и не в столь далёкие 90-ые; может шокировать, удивлять и радовать зрителя всё новыми и поистине стоящими кинотворениями! Таковым и является »Руслан", — полным драйва, динамики и откровенного интереса со стороны зрителей, с ностальгией вспоминающих поистине качественные и близкие фильмы прошлого времени!
Сам фильм настолько стремителен и захватывающий, что 1,5 часа пролетают за мгновение, казалось, только включил, только приступил к просмотру, как нескончаемый ряд событий и происшествий, действий и интриг проносится перед тобой с ужасающей скоростью, позволяя ещё минут 10 после просмотра сидеть с удивлённым и шокированным видом, проматывая по несколько раз всё происшедшее в голове. Теперь немного о сюжете. »Руслан" рассказывает зрителю о русском гангстере, бывшем преступнике и бандите, отошедшим от дел и планирующему уйти на заслуженный отдых, человеке по имени Руслан Драчев. Всё вроде идёт по плану, не нарушая спокойного и тихого течения событий, размеренной жизни Руслана. Однако, герой узнаёт о смерти своей дочери, убитой при странных обстоятельствах. Руслан приезжает на место происшедшего и понимает, что кто-то был заинтересован в умышленном убийстве его дочки.
Совершенно не предполагая, кто же виновен в этом убийстве, Руслан отправляется на поиски лиц, замешанных так или иначе в этом деле. Теперь месть, только месть поможет Руслану в этом нелёгком ипытании на прочность, и она будет очень ужасной и жестокой, настолько, что врагам Руслана не позавидуешь…
Вспоминая каждый зрелищный кадр, каждый яркий эпизод (коих в картине предостаточно), вдохновляешься и преисполняешься радости, желаешь посмотреть фильм ещё раз, и ещё, и ещё… «Руслан» не надоедает и не утомляет, не наскучивает и не навевает тоску, нет! Yeah, it doesn't look good for the release to be on time. I've emailed the folks at Echo Bridge and they have yet to respond. My feeling is that Fox has quietly purchased the rights to this from Echo (according to various rumors). That can only mean they were pleased with what they saw which is a good sign. Remains to be seen when they will release it if they're the new distributor. I know that Fox would have promoted this way more than Echo Bridge. DVDs and Blu-rays usually have the cover art up weeks if not months before the street date. I wouldn't be surpirsed if on March 24th there's still no cover art anywhere. This sucks; I really feel like Rusaln will be THE movie that will put Seagal back on the map for good

Story 4/5-a simple story thats easy to follow for once
screenplay 3/5-one of seagals better screenplays up there with PW
acting/support cast 3/5-again compared to ATD and KS the acting's decent for a STV film
fights 4/5-lots of fights very violent...my ony problem is the camera is too close for some shots but king did a better job than he did on KS but i wished RR directed instead
seagal 4/5-seagal cares about this film more than any film since US2 IMO.he even speaks with a russian accent all the way through and althoguh some will criticize him for it ill give him credit for trying
action 4/5-apart from fights theres some good knife fights and shootouts...theres one very violent knife fight where he does a US1 type fight about half way in the film

Yeahp, friend! All was nice! Do you know, I have heard russian words and Steven accent, but whole, he spoke English! Get ready for action - that's such words, which can write my empressions from film! I think, that stunt double was, but, as I know, all fighting and action scenes were get by Seagal! It's wonderful! You think so?
Here is my little review of the film:
Story
All in all a good story. Easy to follow, actually typical Seagal-revenge-film, but there is a difference: He has also to protect a person in this movie. I thought this was a nice variety to the other revenge-movies Seagal made.

Actors
The most actors are ok. A lot better than the ones in his eastern europe movies. I liked the main russian gangster, played by the actor of a villain in Indiana Jones 4.
The actors are nearly not as good as the ones in "Pistol Whipped", but I was happy with the most.

Action & Fights
Surely the most important thing in a Seagal movie. Yes, there is a lot action, I was quite surprised.
There are very much fights, but not much Aikido. It's more made in a street-style-way. Unfortunately, the camera is again too close to the persons in a lot of this fights and there are again some doubles. BUT: There are not nearly as much doubles as in Kill Switch and Steven is very involved here and did some fantastic cool stuff. The fights are very violent too and the editing of the fight scenes is much better than in Kill Switch.
There are also lot of shootouts and very well made. I was surprised. Great choreography, lot of blood and some rooms become completely destroyed.
Unfortunately, there aren't bigger explosions and car chases (although a stuntman said there will be one), and I also missed the announced fight scene in Seagals kitchen.

Really in a good shape for this movie, specially when I look at his age. Very committed. In one scene he is running like in the old movies.
Unfortunately, there is dubbing in some scenes, especially at the beginning. But it was not very annoying.

Sorry, I didn't like the music in the action scenes. This russian sounds should be played on a russian vodka party but not in action scenes.
The rest of the music was ok, but nothing special.

Ok, there are again a lot of backyard-locations. But the Director of Photography did a great job to give a good look to the movie. The pictures are crystal clear, and the lighting couldn't be better.
I think "The Keeper" will have a better look and "Submerged" or "Mercenary for Justice" are also better in this regard, but I was quite happy with this result.

Conclusion
Although there are some things I didn't like (music, camera too close in the fight scenes) and the old films from 1988 to 2001 are ways better, I must say that this is a great action movie for its budget. Good story, lot of action. Together with Mercenary of Justice, Pistol Whipped and Belly of the Beast definitely one of Seagals better movies since Exit Wounds. This movie kicks ass!
When I look to the trailer to "The Keeper", it looks that this one wasn't a exception...

Well, my friend, as I see, you did a deep analyse of the film, very nice, very nice! But... One little thing to know, what' ll be, if the Keeper will worse than Ruslan in you image? On my mind, film is better, then Attack forse and Against the dark, you know.. And, as russian man I can say you: the russian atmosphere, soul and culture look interesting and nice, you see... I'm glad, that have seen this film!

Story
All in all a good story. Easy to follow, actually typical Seagal-revenge-film, but there is a difference: He has also to protect a person in this movie. I thought this was a nice variety to the other revenge-movies Seagal made.

Actors
The most actors are ok. A lot better than the ones in his eastern europe movies. I liked the main russian gangster, played by the actor of a villain in Indiana Jones 4.
The actors are nearly not as good as the ones in "Pistol Whipped", but I was happy with the most.

Action & Fights
Surely the most important thing in a Seagal movie. Yes, there is a lot action, I was quite surprised.
There are very much fights, but not much Aikido. It's more made in a street-style-way. Unfortunately, the camera is again too close to the persons in a lot of this fights and there are again some doubles. BUT: There are not nearly as much doubles as in Kill Switch and Steven is very involved here and did some fantastic cool stuff. The fights are very violent too and the editing of the fight scenes is much better than in Kill Switch.
There are also lot of shootouts and very well made. I was surprised. Great choreography, lot of blood and some rooms become completely destroyed.
Unfortunately, there aren't bigger explosions and car chases (although a stuntman said there will be one), and I also missed the announced fight scene in Seagals kitchen.

Steven Seagal
Really in a good shape for this movie, specially when I look at his age. Very committed. In one scene he is running like in the old movies.
Unfortunately, there is dubbing in some scenes, especially at the beginning. But it was not very annoying.

Music
Sorry, I didn't like the music in the action scenes. This russian sounds should be played on a russian vodka party but not in action scenes.
The rest of the music was ok, but nothing special.

Optical
Ok, there are again a lot of backyard-locations. But the Director of Photography did a great job to give a good look to the movie. The pictures are crystal clear, and the lighting couldn't be better.
I think "The Keeper" will have a better look and "Submerged" or "Mercenary for Justice" are also better in this regard, but I was quite happy with this result.

Conclusion
Although there are some things I didn't like (music, camera too close in the fight scenes) and the old films from 1988 to 2001 are ways better, I must say that this is a great action movie for its budget. Good story, lot of action. Together with Mercenary of Justice, Pistol Whipped and Belly of the Beast definitely one of Seagals better movies since Exit Wounds. This movie kicks ass!
When I look to the trailer to "The Keeper", it looks that this one wasn't a exception...
